Lisa also edits for select clients at $0.03/word for developmental editing, and $0.02/word for copyediting and follows the Chicago Manual of Style guide. Genres of expertise are speculative fiction (fantasy, dystopian, paranormal, etc.) action-adventure, mystery, and romance---for middle grade, young adult, and adult audiences. She is not a good fit for editing these categories: erotica, heavy sci-fi, poetry, picture books, or Christian manuscripts.
Lisa has three degrees (BA English, BA dramatic Arts, MA English) and has taught college-level writing for over fifteen years. She has numerous published novels and edits for indie authors and for Authors 4 Authors Publishing. She believes in a collaborative editing process, the author maintaining control of their vision and preservation of their voice.
Lisa has now taken on a partner in crime... Stancy Merwin
When Stancy enrolled in the Master’s Degree program at the University of South Carolina years ago, the professor in her first class asked all the students to describe themselves in ONE word. Stancy chose, “eclectic.” This describes her appreciation of the arts as well as the causes she has devoted herself to: urban parks, animal welfare, zoos, art museums, mentoring young people, editing and writing for nonprofits or friends, and Help Save The Music (HTSM).
Stancy’s work has included being an administrative assistant in Washington, DC, managing a former Broadway dancer’s career in New York City, helping run a small business in Seattle, working as an academic librarian in Charleston, South Carolina, and more recently, running a one-woman, part time business as a resume writer, career coach, and freelance writer/editor.
Stancy wants underappreciated artists, some of them all-but forgotten, to be recognized and enjoyed by all generations. Stancy is interested in editing just about any genre, but her forte is most fiction, children's books, and nonfiction. She might not the best fit for heavy sci-fi. Stancy, as well, believes in the collaborative process where the author retains control of their work.
Please inquire about scheduling edits at lisabornegraves@gmail.com
Payments are made half up front and half after completion and delivery of manuscript. We will work in Google Docs or Word with a collaborative method by tracking any potential changes and will share the link at times to reassure the author on its progress and for them to respond to feedback and changes. Ultimately, the author decides on each alteration, keeping full control over their work and voice.
Currently, slots are filled up through April 2025.
